Saddleback Ranch

This past year while on our annual family ski trip to Steamboat we went snow tubing! It is something we have wanted to do with the kids for a few years and they were both old enough this year to try it out! Snow tubing is located at Saddleback Ranch, about a 20 minute drive from the base of Steamboat. No car? No problem. There are tubing packages available with shuttle transportation through Saddleback Ranch’s website. These packages fill up quickly so you have to prepare and book in advance!

Having never been snow tubing I did not know what to expect. Saddleback Ranch offers three different tubing trails – a blue, a green, and a black. If you are under the age of 4 you must ride with an adult. Our kids loved tubing and could not get enough of it. They went over and over again which is perfect since you pay for a block of time and can go tubing as many times as you can squeeze in that time slot. Keep in mind when it is busy you may have to wait in line to get back to the top to tube down.

TIP: IF YOU ARE DRIVING YOURSELF ARRIVE WHEN THEY OPEN TO BEAT THE CROWDS! 

There is a small store on the property where you check in and purchase your tubing tickets. Once you have your tickets you go back outside, grab a snow tube, and head up the lift to pick a trail! Be sure to stop back by the store to warm up and fuel up in between tubing runs. They have an assortment of snacks and hot meals for purchase. The kids loved their hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies! 

Saddleback Ranch is open daily during peak season. Check their website for current peak dates. Pricing begins at $28 per person for one hour of tubing. Riders under 4 are free. If you choose to book the transportation package it is $45 and includes two hours of tubing, the same price for two hours if you drive yourself! Non riders still have to pay a transportation fee.
